Mini retrospective bc why not

Hello!

This is the third game in my retrospective and also from 2015. I made this one during a family vacation at the beach because I was bored and didn’t feel like spending too much time in the water.

This was my first time using Construct 2 and creating something 2D. Back then, I was obsessed with big-head football Flash games, and I really wanted to make my own. I was also super into Cthulhu and monsters, so the theme was a perfect fit for my tiny brain.

I also thought putting Jesus on the same level as Satan or Cthulhu was hilarious and edgy (ah, 12-year-old humor).

Surprisingly, the game itself is pretty fun. You pick a character with unique abilities, which you can activate after filling up a power bar by hitting your rival or scoring points. Nothing groundbreaking, the formula was very much like classic big-head football but with worse physics and a monster reskin.

This is my most-played game. I uploaded it to the Scirra Arcade, and it’s gotten some plays over the years.

The sprites were drawn on paper, scanned (thanks to my dad, who always carried a scanner for work), and then digitally colored.

The title, Destroy the Earth Like a Boss, was totally inspired by YouTube titles and memes. Once again, embrace the cringe.

I had a lot of fun making this and learned a ton about Construct 2. It became my go-to tool, and I ended up creating many more games with it.
