Mini retrospective bc why not

🤠 Howdy!

I opened an insta for dev stuff and I'm making a post for every little game I made to have them all there. Also, I'm writing a little restrospective, so I'm sharing it here too.

This was the first game I ever made! I think it was back in 2015, when I was about 11 years old. I made it as part of a short online Unity course. I had used Blender before, but this was my first time making something interactive. Most of the code was straight out of tutorials, and the character movement was just a generic third-person script, complete with footsteps and all.

This game holds a special place in my heart because it was the first time I felt truly free to create anything I wanted, and it would become real! Oh boy, did I have some wild ideas. I thought emojis were cool? Boom, emoji grass. I thought giant baby heads were funny? Now you can race one. It’s got that early YouTube LOL SO RANDOM energy, and honestly, I love it. Even for 2015, it was cringe, but come on, I was 11, of course I liked cringe stuff. Embrace the cringe, you know?

On a technical level? Absolutely terrible. The game feel? Also terrible. But you know what? It was a start.

The car model was the only asset I made entirely by myself, the rest were just retextured assets. The car had some normals flipped, and the texture wasn’t properly applied, but hey, Blender let me put tattoos on a car. I could make it have a fire tattoo. A car, with spikes, and tattoos. I also thought putting a Baby on Board sign on it was peak comedy.
